DUBLIN — Joseph (Joe) Lee Farris, 77, of 1013 Dunlap Road, Dublin, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, in the Wythe County Community Hospital. Born May 6,1920, in Allisonia, he was the son oft he late Joseph Graham Farris and Katherine Smith Farris. Me was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E. Nester Farris; daughter, Sherry Lynn Lewis; two sisters, Edith Lillian F. Webb and Junia Farris; one brother, Carl Farris, and a number of half-sisters and half-brothers. He was a member of the Dublin Christian Church. A Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II. He retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant as an operator in the chemical process department with just over 31 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Inis Gladys Branscome Chrisley Farris., Dublin; one daughter, Mrs John (Christina) Morris, Irmo, S.C.; two step-daughters, Mary Lee Phillips, Dugspur, and Anna L. Perdue, Galax; two stepsons, Marvin P. Chrisley, Stephens City, and Larry A. Chrisley, Dublin, and six step grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with Minister Eddie Callahan officiating. Interment will follow in the Farris Family Cemetery, Allisonia. Visiting will be today and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Bob White Boulevard, Pulaski, or anytime at the home, 1013 Dunlap Road, Dublin.
