Her funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 29, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs, with the Rev. Michael Bagnall officiating. Music was provided by Betty Schafer, organist, and Brian Bergeleen and Karen Christopherson, vocalists. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers were Lee, Gary and Paul Pawlowski, Mike Fee, Matt Johnson and Dave Needham.
Edna Anna Dethlefs was born March 23, 1912, to Franz and Anna (Schmidt) Dethlefs on a farm in Jerauld County southwest of Alpena, S.D. She attended school through the eighth grade.
She was baptized and later confirmed as an adult at Zion Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lane.
She married Paul Pawlowski September 23, 1932, at Lane. They farmed in Blaine Township south of Lane for 54 years, and moved to Wessington Springs after retiring. They lived in Weskota Apartments for about two years before moving to the Weskota Manor Nursing Home.
She is survived by three sons, Ken (Betty) of Great Falls, Mont., Lyle (Lenora) of Gann Valley and Glen (Cindi) of Battle Creek, Mich.; a daughter, Valand (Joe) Fee of Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents, three brothers and two sisters, and her husband Paul in March 2004.
Memorials may be sent to Zion Lutheran Church, Wessington Springs Senior Center or the Weskota Manor in Wessington Springs.
