James Hans Myers was born club footed and crippled. Even with his handicap he was very much involved in working for the Confederacy during the Civil War. He was imprisoned for stealing horses, conscripting citzens for the rebel army, and violating his Oath of Allegiance. He was shot during the Civil War while involved in stealing horses in Callaway County, Missouri. He survived, and lived on till 1905. His Civil War trial and records, are on file with the Missouri Provost Marshal's records.
