Some accounts give his middle name as Lange, while others give it as Lance.

While visiting Atlanta from Queens, NY, Michael slipped while climbing Stone Mountain and fell to his death. He was wearing tennis shoes and slipped down a moss covered area. Witnesses on the ground watched him for 5 minutes, but could do nothing.
At the time of his death, he was a freshman football player at Andrew Jackson High School.

News article from the Southern Israelite, Atlanta, Ga., April 26, 1957:

YOUTH, 14, KILLED IN MOUNTAIN FALL

Michael Lange Moret, 14, of New York, was killed April 22 in an accidental fall down Stone Mountain near Atlanta.

Young Moret and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Moret, had been visiting relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Boss, his aunt and uncle, in Atlanta during the Passover holidays. They had planned to leave for home Monday, but the youth begged to see the mountain. Police said he apparently went around the end of a safety fence and walked too near the cliff side. His tennis shoes were worn through the sides in an effort to stop his slide.

Rabbi Emanuel Feldman conducted the funeral at Blanchard's Chapel April 24. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include a sister, Eileen Moret, all of New York, and a grandfather, Henry Lange of Atlanta. The youth's father was identified as a trainer for the New York Giants football team.
