Norman D. Coffin, 85, of Church Street died Monday at a Portland hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Lincoln, a son of Harris and Nancy Allen Coffin, and attended Bangor schools.
He attended Walter Reed Army Hospital as a dental technician, and served in that capacity during World War II. He was past president of the Fifth Infantry Association.
Mr. Coffin worked at Eliason's Dental Laboratory, retiring in 1973.
He had lived in South Portland most of his life.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Cunningham Coffin; two daughters, Janette Maxwell of South Portland and Patricia LeConte of Buxton; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hay Funeral Home, Westbrook. Burial will be in Forest City Cemetery.
