William & Maria were married in Baltimore and settled there after their marriage. In 1837, they moved to Miamisburg, PA. In 1838, they moved to Marion Twp., Mercer Co., Ohio. In 1853-54, they purchased an 80-acre farm in Augaize Co., 3 miles west of New Bremen (2nd farm on the south side of Rt. 274, just west of Rt. 364 in Section 18).
Wm. & Maria had 9 children: 7 sons & 2 daughters. Six sons and 1 daughter preceded them in death. Wm. died of typhoid fever after a 2-week illness. Maria died of heart failure at the home of her daugher, Mrs. Fritz Fuelling, where she had been staying for 3 weeks. She had become almost totally blind in her last days.
