Jacob "Jack" Wingerter
Birth: Jul. 20, 1920
Emmons County
North Dakota, USA
Death: Oct. 15, 2002
Pierce County
Washington, USA

Jack was the youngest son of the thirteen children born to Konrad Carl and Elizabeth Ann Schmaltz Wingerter. He served in the US Army during WWII as a Military Policeman and interpreter for the German POWs. Jack owned and operated Wingerter's Texaco Service on 12th and Trafton in Tacoma for over 50 years, one of the last full service stations in the city. He retired in 1994. He was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Church where he was an usher for over 40 years. He was a lifelong member of the Elks and the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included horseshoes, bowling and mowing his lawn. He is fondly remembered for his hard work, optimism, teasing and witty sense of humor, resourceful ideas and creative imagination, and a legacy of family love and affection that travels through the generations to this day. Jack was predeceased by his daughter Tricia Tooman and son Gerard "Gerry" LeSecq Wingerter; his brothers, Sebastian, Peter, Joseph, Frank, twins Bernard and Fred; and sisters Magdelina, Mary and Martina. He is survived by his wife; one son; two daughters; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and three sisters, Rose Caraway (died 2004), Margaret Reese, and Julia Robillard.
