Mabel I. Dietrich, 99, Heilman House, Topton, formerly of Kempton, passed away on Oct. 15, 2010. She was the widow of Anson L. Dietrich, who died March 25, 1964. Born in Maxatawny Township, she was a daughter of the late Andrew J. and Malaria (Heffner) Seidel.

She was the oldest member of New Bethel Church, Kempton. In earlier years, she was an accomplished hand quilter for the NBC Quilters of New Bethel. She also was a volunteer for the Kempton Community Center and Kempton Fire Company, where she formerly served as the secretary of the ladies auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Mark A., Kutztown; and six daughters: Fay E., widow of Albert Fritz, Bath, Pa., Althea M., widow of Charles Fetherolf, Hamburg; Marlene E., widow of Fred Heffner, Fleetwood; Eleanor M., wife of Robert Follweiler, Lenhartsville; Alta L., wife of Dale Brobst, Lyon Station; and Linda J., wife of Harold Dupler, Kempton. There are also 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren. Mabel was also predeceased by her daughter, Joyce L. Leiby, on April 7, 1987; brothers: Robert, Harvey and Paul Seidel; and sister, Emma (Seidel) Mest.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. from Ludwick Funeral Homes Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with the Rev. David W. Blitch officiating. Interment will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Kempton. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
