Hi - Please add to his bio:

William H. Simpson was born in New York and moved with his family to Grass Lake, Michigan between 1850 and 1860. After serving in the Union Army during the Civil War, William married Frances M. Clark (8/13/1839-6/13/1930) on December 14, 1864 in Jackson County, Michigan. Frances was the daughter of Jabez Clark and Catherine Ferguson, who were both born in New York and who moved to Grass Lake sometime before Frances was born. (On her Michigan death record, her name is Mary Frances Simpson.)

William and Frances had six children, including Anna, Ethel, Kitty, Lloyd, and Mildred (Millie). Only four of their children were still alive in 1900.

On the 1870 US Census, the Simpson household included Frances's younger siblings Adelphia and Mills Clark, whose father had died in 1860, as well as a hired hand named Michael Kelly.
