Minuteman, Revolutionary Soldier

Solomon Rand was born March 5, 1750 in Shrewsbury, MA, the son of Solomon and Deborah (Dodge) Rand. Solomon was a brother of Daniel and Ezekiel Rand that also settled in Rindge, NH. He married, June 22, 1774, Sarah "Sally" Adams of Grafton, MA. They came to Rindge previous to the Revolution. Solomon and Sally had nine children. He was a selectman in 1782. In the Revolution he was a member of Capt. Nathan Hale's company in 1775, in 1776 he was a signatory of the "Association Test" in Rindge, and he was in Col. Nahum Baldwin's regiment, in 1777 he was in Col. Daniel Moore's regiment, in 1778 he was in Col. Enoch Hale's regiment. after the war he was a captain of the militia. Sally died February 18, 1815. Solomon died April 27, 1827, aged 77 years.
