Mrs. Marion Clark Gere, 84, of 220 Parsons Drive, Westvale, died yesterday at home after an apparent heart attack.
She was the widow of H. Monroe Gere, who died last May.
Mrs. Gere was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Syracuse and was a former deacon of the church.
She attended Onondaga Valley Academy and attended classes in music and voice training at Syracuse University.
Mrs. Gere was a church soloist for many years and in the 1930s had her own radio program, working with William Lundigan, the late television and movie actor, and the late Rev. Msgr. John Shanon.
Mrs. Gere was a descendant of Nathaniel Burt Searle, who was one of the first settlers of Onondaga Valley.
She was born in the historic Nathanel Searle home in Onondaga Valley, Nov. 19, 1892 and was married to H. Monroe Gere in the house, Jan. 21, 1915.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Elizabeth) Fielder of Gardiner, Maine; Mrs. J. Benedict (Barbara) Ackley of Copake, and Mrs. Donald N. (Mary) Benz of Onondaga Hill; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Avery of Hendersonville, N.C.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Private services will be Friday, the Rev. Robert B. Lee officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood-Morningside Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Syracuse memorial fund. Greenleaf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
