Grant Woodruff Heath, age 73, died of a heart attack, Sunday, July 11, 1993 at his home in St. George, Utah.

He was born in the family home in Sugar City, Idaho, October 21, 1919, the ninth of 11 children born to Fred J. and Emma Cahoon Heath. The family moved from Idaho to Salt Lake County. Earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Utah. He served in the Spanish American mission and U.S. Naval Amphibious Forces during World War II. He retired from the Naval Reserves in June 1969, with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Mr. Heath worked for the daily newspapers in Salt Lake City and the Vernal Weekly. He also was a sales agent for an insurance agency in Pocatello, Idaho, Billings, Montana and Salt Lake City. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Heath was employed by the church in Public Communications Dept. He retired in 1983 to serve missions with his wife in Boise, Idaho and Buenos Aires, Argentina. They moved to St. George in 1985.

He married Marie Thomas in San Francisco, California, June 4, 1945. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 4, 1947.

Marie died December 13, 1960. He married Donna Jean Leavitt Buttle on October 16, 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized later in the Salt Lake Temple.

Survived by widow, of St. George; three sons, G. Thomas (Paula), of New Canaan, Conn.; Fred T. and Bill (Kandace), of Salt Lake City; two daughters, Laurel H. Young (Kimball); Janet H. Owen, both of Salt Lake City; stepson, Robert B. Buttle; stepdaughter, Donalyn B. Shortino (Michael); brother, Paul H. Heath; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services Friday, 19th Ward Chapel, 700 South in St. George. Friends may call at Metcalf Mortuary Thursday evening and one hour prior to services at the church.

Burial in St. George City Cemetery.
