Birth: Jul. 4, 1835
Tarbert
County Kerry, Ireland
Death: Oct. 6, 1903
Gifford
Champaign County
Illinois, USA

Bridget Jane Frawley was born in Tarbert, Kerry County, Ireland, July 4, 1835, and died Oct. 6, 1903, at the age of 68 years, three months and two days at Gifford, Ill.

When she was ten years of age, her father having died, her mother immigrated to the United States, settling at La Salle, Ill.

March 25,1856, she married James Cain of that city. For a number of years they endured the hardships of pioneer life in Minnesota and Iowa, but in 1875, twenty-eight years ago, they located and made a homestead two and one-half miles north of Gifford, Ill. She was very proud of the distinction of being a grandmother to forty-three grandchildren. She was the mother of eight sons and three daughters, namely: Daniel, John, Jerry, Patrick, James, Michael, Edward, Thomas, Nellie, Bridget Jane (Jennie) and Mrs. John (Mary Anne) Brown.

For two years Mrs. Cain was ill. Her suffering from July 6 to the time of her death was intense but bravely endured. She was a loving wife and mother and a devout Catholic. She well deserved the friendship of her many friends.

Taught by faith, she estimated life at its true meaning. She realized that no earthly world could claim the whole life of man, for man was born of God. Therefore, it was her aim to be generous, enlightened, and God-fearing and God serving. She had help for the needy, sympathy and tears for the sorrowful. And a smiling face for the sad.

She lived for her family and the church. To serve both was the joy of her life. Her death forces from the hearts of a multitude, the prayer. "Lord help us to live better and to live as she lived."

The funeral took place from the family home on Friday, Oct. 9, to St. Lawrence church, Penfield, Ill., where a requiem high mass was celebrated by the pastor, Rev, J. F. Purcell. The remains were interred in St.Lawrence Cemetery at Penfield. May she rest in peace.
