John Howland, of Newport Pond, was born in 1516, and was the son of John Howland and Agnes "Agnete", whi were married about 1512, in Newport Pond, Essex, England.

The marriage entry in the registers of Saint Lawrence Jewry with Saint Mary Magdalene Milk Street says, as follow:


"Anno. D: 1539... John Holland of Marg: Moses prishe & Agnes Greeneaway of this prishe} Holland & Greeneaway} June 16."


John Howland of St. Margaret Moses, married Anne Greenway, the daughter of John Greenway of Clay, County Norfolk, yeoman, on 16 June 1539 at Saint Lawrence Jewry with Saint Mary Magdalene Milk Street in London, England. However, he was also known as John Howland, Citizen and Salter, of St. Margaret Moses, London, as written in his will in 1568 and in the Howland pedigree at the time of the visitation of Surrey in 1623.


He died on the 22th of March, 1569/70 ‎(age 52)‎ in London, England. He was buried on the 24th of March 1569/70, at St. Margaret Moses on Friday Street in London England.


His will was dated 28 July 1568; his will was proven on 28 July 1570.


On 7 August 1671, his widow, Anne Howland married secondly, John Quarles, Citizen and Draper of London, who died on 12 November and was buried on 25 November 1577 at St. Peter le Poor in London, England.


His widow, Agnes Quarles died on 18 April 1588 and was buried on 6 May 1588 at St. Peter le Poor in London, England.

2. Johannes (John) Howland (1541 - 1611) was married and had three surviving children.

3. Willelmus (William) Howland (1542 - bef. 1548), died young.

4. Christina Howland (1544 - bef. 1588) died young.

5. Robertus (Robert) Howland (1545 - 1607), of Gray's Inn, Middlesex, was never married.

6. Radulphus (Ralph or Raffe) Howland (1546 - bef. 1558) died young.

7. Egidius (Giles) Howland (1549 - 1608), Knight, of Streatham, was married and had six children.

8. Willelmus (William) Howland, the Elder (1548 - 1588), Citizen and Mercer of London, was never married.

9. Benjaminus (Benjamin) Howland (1550 - bef. 1558) died young.

10. Willelmus (William) Howland, the Younger (1552 - 1601), Citizen and Haberdasher of London, was never married.

11. Jacobus (James) Howland (1554 - 1598), Archdeacon of Northampton, was never married.[2]
