Enoch Churchill was born near Bristol, Gloucestershire, England, June 10, 1830, and passed away at his home near Arthur, Iowa, March 16, 1912. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida County, Iowa. He was a Civil War Veteran.
He came to America in 1852, landing in New York on May 8. He lived in New York for 5 years, and then moved to Clinton, Iowa.
He married Susan P. Williams of DeWitt, Iowa, on May 1, 1860. They had 6 children, Samuel, Robert, Elizabeth, John, Mary, and Stephen.
He enlisted in Co. C, 26th Iowa Infantry, August 1862, serving until end of Civil War. He was with Sherman on his march from Atlanta to the Sea. He was mustered out at Washington D. C. in June 6, 1865. He was a member of the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic).
