John served as a Private First Class in the 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Anne Arundel County, Maryland and was a member the Maryland National Guard prior to the war.
His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 3, 1941, prior to the war, from Annapolis, Maryland. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Professional Attendant and also as Single, without dependents.
John was "Killed In Action" in France during the war and was awarded Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
