SADIE CALDWELL JEFFREY, 100, of Barboursville WV widow of Raymond Jeffrey died at Chateau Grove Senior Living.
Sadie was born August 29, 1910 in Boyd County KY, a daughter of the late Benjamin F and Ellen Davis Caldwell.
She came to Cabell County in 1930. She worked in the cafeteria at INCO and Marshall University. Sadie was born and raised in very humble circumstances and all through her life she was blessed with few, if any, advantages. However she was blessed with determination, a strong work ethic and a strong sense of self reliance. Throughout her long life she was able to support herself and her daughter, neither asking for nor accepting handouts from the government or anyone else.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond in 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Esther Hensley of Barboursville and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call after 10 am Wednesday at the mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday at at Beard Mortuary with Rev Tommy Jeffrey officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
