He was born Mar. 5, 1931 in Indianapolis, the son of Floyd and Clare (Gentry) Hedge. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1963 and received a master's degree in science education from Indiana University in 1976. He was also a graduate of the Officers Candidate School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He had served in the Army for 20 years as a field artillery officer, retiring in 1973, with tours of duty in Europe, Korea and Vietnam. He had also been a mathematics teacher in the North West Hendricks School Corporation for two years. He also had worked in the physical plant administration department of the Indiana Department of Mental Health, retiring in 1991. Mr. Hedge was a life member of the Lebanon Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his widow, Mary R. (Cornwall) Hedge; sons, Timothy R., James P., Thomas H., and John C. Hedge, and four grandchildren.
