Robert joined the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and served two tours of duty. He earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant on July 1, 1969 upon completion of Officer training. He was Platoon Commander of India 3-5 and Fox 2-5, 1st Marine division while serving in Vietnam (1969-1972). Honorably discharged June 30, 1972, Robert was a respected Vietnam veteran who cared about his fellow veterans as he involved himself in such Affairs. As he requested and deserved, Robert was honored at his memorial service with Marine Military Honors that included a 21 gun salute firing party, a bugler playing of Taps, a flag folding, and a flag presentation to his wife, Patricia.
Robert was a kind giving protective man who always did what he could to help others - expecting nothing in return. He gathered 'strays' and lived with a menagerie of rescued dogs, cats and birds. Robert was loving and much loved. He was an intelligent man who seemed to know something about everything - he couldn't be beat at "Trivial Pursuit".
He will be sorely missed and the void left (by his sudden unexpected passing while healing from recent knee surgery) will not easily be filled - if ever. Rest in Peace, dear Robert.
