Mr. Mathis was the owner of The Woodshed, which he opened in 1984.
Mr. Mathis was a member of Flat Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He also served many years on the Western Kentucky State Fair Board.
He was 81. Survivors include his wife, two sons, two brothers, and a sister; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
Services are at Hughart and Beard at 2pm Tuesday. Burial will follow in Riverside. Visitation will be from 4-7 Monday at the funeral home.
The Woodshed will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
