Dr. Tyler Alexander Baker was born February 4, 1932, and passed away June 4, 2008, after a valiant struggle with Parkinson's disease.
He grew up in Columbia, Kentucky, and attended Lindsey Wilson College. After moving to Texas, he attended Texas Chiropractic College, graduating to start his practice in Lake Jackson. He pursued this calling for more than 50 years. Dedicated to his patients and his community, Dr. Baker served on the Lake Jackson Planning Commission, was a two-term Lake Jackson city councilman and served on the Brazoria County Airport Board. He was a faithful Rotarian, serving as president of the Brazosport Rotary Club and later as the governor of Rotary District 5890. He participated in Rotary as long as he could until his health failed him.
Tyler loved flying and flew as often as he could. He also loved to travel and see the world with his wife, Mildred.
He and Mildred were married on his 18th birthday, and he leaves her behind after spending 58 years together.
Tyler also leaves behind his children: daughter, Linda Riek and her husband, Robert Riek, and their children, Sean Catlett, Blake Catlett, Jordan Riek, Tyler Riek and Lauren Riek; daughter, Dr. Donna Baker and her husband, Robert Faickney, and their sons, Harrison and Chandler; and son, Kevin Baker and his children, Gage and Anne-Elisabeth Baker.
He also is survived by his brother, Walter Baker and his wife, Jane, of Glasgow, Kentucky, and his brother, James Baker and wife, Phyllis, of Richmond, Kentucky.
Memorial services celebrating Dr. Tyler Baker?s life will be held Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson at 2:00 p.m.
