Murder and Suicide Theory in Death of Two on Tucker Ridge
A murder-suicide theory has been advanced in the death of two people whose bodies were found in their tent home on Tucker Ridge, near Fountain Run Church about 9 o'clock Wednesday morning.
A neighbor found the two, Michael and Irene Hunter, with her sitting upright in a straight chair and him lying prostrate on the floor.
A 32 caliber automatic pistol with two spent shells was laying nearby.
Michael Hunter, about 70 and his wife, in her fifties, had both been shot once in the head. The bullet entered his left temple and came out about an inch above the right ear. She was shot in the jaw, approximately one and one half inches below her ear. There was no evidence the bullet that struck emerged.
Mrs. Hunter evidently was shot at very close range, according to the wound. It was large and gaping. The wounds of her husband were smoother, although it was contention that he shot her, then turned the gun on himself. However, there were theories that it may have been the other way around with her shooting him and then herself.
