Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Gruendel was born to Alma (Kernel) and Peter Gruendel. He attended schools in Chicago, graduating from Loyola University and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana, honorably discharged as a Captain. He served his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Milwaukee County Hospital, Milwaukee. After completing his residency, he moved to Tampa where he practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology for 35 years. He was an early member of the Krewe of Venus and Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, Jesuit Dad's Club, served as a member of the Foundation Board at Jesuit High School, Centre Club and loved coaching Little League baseball at Tampa Bay Little League while his sons were young. Dr. Gruendel also was one of the founding members of the Women's Hospital, currently known as St. Joseph's Women's Hospital. Left behind to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Lola, his children Michael (Nancy), Gregory (Holly), Douglas, Jeffrey, Julie and Bill, grandchildren; Stephan, Christopher, Taylor, Victoria, Syn Jyn, Gabe and Noel, and many other family members, friends and patients.
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
