Eleanor Braumiller, 74, of Lynchburg, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born on December 10, 1924 in Chicago, Ill., daughter of William Penn and Ethel Adams Lukens. She was the wife of Richard Earl Braumiller, and mother of Karen B. McLarty and Kristin B. Hancock, and the mother-in-law of Charles F. McLarty. She was the grandmother of Eleanor Ann Hancock and Katharine Elizabeth McLarty. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1946 and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
She served on the boards of the Florence Crittenden Home, the Virginia Baptist Auxiliary, the YWCA, the Fine Arts Center, the Lynchburg Symphony, the Poetry Society of Virginia, and the Virginia Retired Teachers Association. She volunteered in the Poetry Enrichment Program, the New Vistas School, and Community Concerts. She was active in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as president of the Lutheran Church Women, as teacher of Sunday Church School and the Wednesday Program, and as a member of the Church Council, the Altar Guild, the Fellowship Committee, the Columbarium Committee, and the Bell Choir.
