Clifton Pryor. Died 7/24/67 at 4:00 am. Pryor, a 23 year-old white male migrant worker from Tennessee who did roofing work, was killed while carrying a mop and bucket on the roof of his apartment at 667 Alexandrine. He and some other residents had gone to the roof to protect the building from sparks associated with nearby fires. Mistaken for a sniper, Pryor was shot by a National Guardsman. The official police report still lists Pryor as a "sniper".
