Christopher Leslie Herdel, 56, Henderson, Ky., formerly of Mitchell, died at 6:28 p.m. Monday at Methodist Hospital, Henderson.
Born in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of Leslie Louis and Virginia Dae (Goble) Herdel. He married Kathy Lou Rinckle and she survives.
He was a warehouseman for Lodestar Energy for 24 years and a former teacher and coach at Sturgis Middle School in Sturgis, Ky., and at Mitchell High School, Mitchell. He was a member of St. Lucas United Church of Christ in Evansville, where he belonged to the Friends in Faith Sunday school class.
He was a graduate of the University of Evansville, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
In addition to his wife of Henderson, he is survived by two daughters: Leslie White of Eddyville, Ky., and Nikki Conway of Sturgis; one stepdaughter, Ginger Boarman of Evansville; one stepson, Skip Sandfur; one brother, Gail L. Herdel of Morganfield, Ky.; one stepsister, Ellie Hartz of Lexington, Ky.; three granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, Henderson, with burial in Fairmont Cemetery.
