Mr. Bevans was a carpenter and owned Bevans Construction Co. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1974 and was a member of the Yorktown American Legion and former member of the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barbara Lewis Bevans of Muncie; a son, Stephan L. Bevans; a daughter, Brittany Bevans; three brothers, Bill Bevans Jr. (wife-Vicki), Kenneth Bevans, and Tim Bevans (wife-Lisa), all of Yorktown; and six nieces and nephews.
Steve will always be remembered by his family and friends for his hard-working and friendly nature, and for his love for his family.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Gant Funeral Home in Yorktown. Burial will follow in Hawk Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the Veterans of Delaware County. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and an hour before services.
