Funeral services for A. T. Gifford, 82, who died at the Community Hospital in Grinnell last Thursday morning, were held at the Friends Church Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Gifford was born to Albert and Mary Gifford on June 29, 1874. Rev. Carl D. Byrd had charge of the services. Pallbearers were Ray Ver Steeg, Lory Gause, Howard Macy, Clyde Lisk, Harold Macy, and William Stewart.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Gifford, two sons, Ward of Grinnell and Clair of Pella; three stepsons, Wayne, Dale and Keith Wildman; three half-brothers, Willis Renaud of Sully, E. B. Renaud of Lynnville, and Willet Renaud of California; and a half-sister, Avis Neagle of Central Point.
Mr. Gifford was a life-long resident of Lynnville except about four years spent in Montour. He purchased the furniture store and mortician business of C. W. Wildman in 1910 at Lynnville. Prior to that he was superintendent of Lynnville Schools for a number of years. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.
