Death: Jun. 25, 1962

Paul Claus Haack son of Louis Haack and his wife Emma, née Bebensee, was born April 5, 1896, near Elk Creek, in Nemaha County, Nebraska.

On May 17 of that year, he was brought to St. James Lutheran (Long Branch) Church for Holy Baptism, where the pastor Ludwig Mueller administered the sacrament. He attended the local rural school through his youthful years and was confirmed at Martin Luther Church (West Benton) on March 20, 1910, together with the youth of the parish, by the Rev. H. E. Studier.

On March 3, 1920, he was united in marriage with Edith Charlotte Sophie Laue at Tecumseh, Nebraska. For the first year this young couple worked on a farm near their homes. Then February of 1921 they moved to a farm a few miles east of Bird City, Kansas. In the late fall of 1922 they again moved--this time to a farm south of Bird City which they had purchased, and there built their home. To this marriage, God granted three sons - Norman, Melvin and Lyle.

Paul was known as a Christian gentleman, a good neighbor and a father concerned for the well-being of his family. He continued faithful to his church throughout the years, and although he did not enjoy the best of health especially during the past several years, he was always found at worship with his fellow believers.

His dear wife preceded him in death on August 16, 1960, just after they had retired to their home in town. At the time, Paul was very ill, but God granted him recovery. Several times he was hospitalized for treatment and always returned to his home to pursue his friendly association with his children and grandchildren. Last Monday night, June 25, 1962, at the Pringle Memorial Hospital in Benkelman, Nebraska, the Lord took him away; where he shall no longer know sickness or sorrow, and where "all tears are wiped away."

Those who preceded him in death: his wife, parents and one brother, Herman.

He leaves to mourn his passing three sons: Norman and Lyle of Bird City and Melvin of Loveland, Colorado: three grandsons and four granddaughters.

Funeral services were held a the St. John Lutheran Church Thursday at 2:30 p.m., June 28 with the Rev. Ralph R. Radloff officiant.
