ROBERT BLAIR CAMPBELL SR.

Robert Blair Campbell Sr., (''R. B.''), 72, of Roanoke County, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 1997 in a local hospital. He was a retired supervisor for Norfolk Southern Railway with 44 years of service. Mr. Campbell was an Army Veteran of World War II, where he served in Patton's Third Army. He was a Charter Member and Elder at New Hope Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dorothy (''Dot'') Campbell, Roanoke County; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Linda Campbell, Atlanta, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Nellie and Tommy Smith, Roanoke, Carol and Danny Hale, Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren and spouses, Blair Campbell, Chip and Teresa Smith, Tim and Tara Smith, Andy Smith, Scottie and Wayne Senger, Micah and Kelli Hale, Carrie and Daniel Stickley; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, William Wayne and Christine Campbell, Dothan, Ala.; very special child, Jennifer Carpenter; two special friends, Ray Forbes and Hugh Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held at New Hope Christian Church, 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 1997, with Minister David Derrow and Minister L. D. Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Campbell Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to New Hope Christian Church, 4229 Welcome Valley Road, S. W., Roanoke, Va. 24014.
