Houston Chronicle, Aug. 10, 2002:

Faerie Kullin Allison is in heaven now and her family and friends will miss her dearly. She died at Retama Manor in Harlingen, Texas on August 8, 2002. Faerie was born in Hochheim, Texas in DeWitt County on January 3, 1908 and lived in that area for several years. She also lived in Karnes County and in Gonzales where she graduated from high school. Faerie graduated from the University of Texas, and later obtained her Master's degree in Library Science.

In 1935, while living in Raymondville, she married William J. Allison. Faerie and Bill moved from Raymondville to Harlingen in the late 1930's. She had a ceramic shop in Harlingen as well as elementary school teaching assignments in the area. In 1958, they moved to Houston, and in 1996, Faerie came back to Harlingen. Her teaching career took her to several places in Texas, namely Dewville, Wrightsboro, Raymondville, San Perlita, and Katy. For several years she was an elementary librarian in Katy and Addicks school systems.

For many years, Faerie was active in the Order of Eastern Star, a member for 67 years, first in Raymondville where she was a Worthy Matron and then in the Harlingen Chapter #641. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen and in Houston. Other organizations in which she was active include the Business and Professional Women, Freedom Foundation, and teaching associations. She was much sought after to give programs, book reviews, and enjoyed bridge groups, ballroom dancing, the symphony, theatre, parties, crafts, sewing, and beautiful clothes. Everyone turned to Faerie for encouragement and to share joyous events.

Faerie is survived by two brothers, Joseph A. Kullin of Harlingen, and Robert R. Kullin of Waco; sister, Sarah Marie Holmes of Austin; and sister-in-law, Del Gloor Kullin of San Antonio. She is also survived by niece and goddaughter, Joann Kullin-Smith, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Her husband, William L. Allison, and two brothers, Richard C. Kullin and Arthur C. Kullin, preceded her in death.

She touched the lives of so many dear family and friends. Cremation will be followed by a private memorial ceremony and interment at the Bellevue Cemetery in Cheapside, DeWitt County, Texas, at a later date. For those desiring to do so, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. 956-423-3636.
