Velma was born in 1899 in St, Stephens , Nuckolls, Nebraska to John I Davis (1875 - 1956)  and Anna May Neel Davis (1879 - 1965)

She had two brothers
Leslie William Davis (1898-1977)
Roland John Davis (1912-2003)
 
Velma started grade school in Jud, North dakota in 1906 in a one room school house. Her teacher of a class of perhaps only 20 students covering several grades was her own mother Anna Neel Davis.

She married Robert Raymond Christensen and they had 6 children.

They moved from North Dakota to New York, to Wyoming, to Oregon and finally to Utah where they lived on small farm, while Robert worked as a construction Welder. They raised farm animals and kept a large vegetable garden and fruit orchard. They often had Sundays meals for their family and loved ones.

Velma died young from medical complications ( subarachnoid hemorrhage) In July 1954 at the old St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah
