Birth: Jul. 20, 1822
Munich (München), Germany
Death: Aug. 22, 1887
Sauk County
Wisconsin, USA

Daniel Brückl was born at Haschaberg, Gemeinde Sinzendorf, Kreis Waldmünchen, Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany, son of brewery owner, Adam Georg Brickl and Katharine Stettner. The brewery, which Daniel later owned, was in Waldmünchen.

Daniel married Maria Rötzer about 1850 in Bavaria, Germany. They had 6 children: Theresia, Anna Maria Franziska, Alois Georg, Daniel Georg, Anna Teresa, and Margareth Teresa.

Maria Rötzer Brückl died on March 14, 1864, at Waldmünchen.

Daniel married for the 2nd time in August 1864 to Katherina Rötzer, the niece of his first wife. Daniel and his 2nd wife had a son, Simon.

On February 3, 1871, he sold his brewery, and belongings at auction and planned to emigrate. The family's name appeared on a 12-page list of emigrants: Bezeichnung des Aktes: Brückl Daniel mit Familie und Josef, Tafernwirt von Waldmünchen, deren Auswanerung nach Amerika. Jahrgang 1872.

The family of Daniel Brückl, along with his brother Josef, immigrated to America on the ship, SS Leipzig from Bremen, the date on the ship list was April 6, 1872. They are incorrectly listed as the "Brucke" family on page 8. The image can be found at, and a list is at

On the ship were:
Cath age 33
Therese age 19
Marie age 17
Alois age 16
Daniel age 14
Anne age 6
Marie age 6
Junan [Simon] age 5
Daniel age 49
Josef age 55

When in America, the last name evolved into Brickl rather than Brückl.

Daniel Brückl died at age 65 in 1887. The Weekly Home News of August 25, 1887 reported this: "Mr. Brickl was fatally injured in a runaway Saturday while he and his family were on their way to church. He died the next day."

Daniel's second wife later remarried to William Dresen and was buried at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Sauk City, Sauk County, Wisconsin. She died April 16, 1904.
