Lemuel married on 5 January 1709
at Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts

They were the parents of three children;
Sarah, Eliza, Lemuel.

Lemuel settled in Boston, where he was
a shopkeeper and merchant.
He was part owner of the sloop 'Union'.
He became wealthy, owning extensive
real estate in the Boston area.
His son, Lemuel, continued with real estate transactions as late as 1763.

BOSTON WEEKLY NEWS - 21 April 1727:
And on the same day died Mr. Lemuel Gowen, aged 46 years, Merchant in this Place, and was decently interred on the Lord's Day following.
A unique American silver punch bowl engraved with six contemporary coats of arms.

Weight - 15 ounces
Diameter - 7 & 5/8 inches
Description - Hemispherical on three shaped legs with hoof feet, engraved around the outside with six names and their respective
coats of arms in alternating designs of cartouches.
In 2004 this sold for $430,000.00

Lemuel Gowen was born in 1718,
son of Lemuel Gowen and Sarah Mountfort.
The Gowens lived in a house in King Street adjacent to that of the silversmith Edward Winslow.
