Eva Frances (Tomlinovich) Blockovich, 86, beloved wife, dedicated mother and grandmother, died July 4, 2009 with her husband of sixty-two years at her bedside, along with close friends. Eva suffered health problems for over a year and is now at peace.
Eva was born February 16, 1923 in Park City, Utah to Frances Saric Tomlinovich and Mark Tomlinovich. She graduated from Park City High School, where she played clarinet in the high school's first marching band. Eva attended Stevens-Heneger Business College. She worked as an executive secretary for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for almost forty years.
Eva was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where she served as census secretary for almost 20 years. She was a member of the Catholic Womens' League and a member of Catholic Womens' Bowling League.
Eva married Matt Blockovich on November 20, 1947, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Park City, Utah. They made their home in Salt Lake City, except for the three years they lived in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Eva is survived by her husband, Matt, of Salt Lake City; a son, Mark, of Kirtland, New Mexico; one granddaughter, Heather Blockovich, of Omaha, Nebraska; one grandson, Matthew, of Evanston, Wyoming; her brother, Monsignor George Davich (Ret.), of Palm Springs, California; her sister, Katherine (Emil) Ballen, of Denver, Colorado; several nieces and nephews. Eva was a second mother and hero to many. She was always willing to help anyone. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joseph Davich and three sisters: Helen Johnson, Mary Bircumshaw, and Madeline Martin.
Eva loved to read, do needlework, crochet, and bowl. She loved to work in her yard and garden with her niece, Bobbie. But above all, Eva loved being with and taking care of her family. She has enriched all of our lives.
