Born in Garfield, and a resident of Clifton before moving to the Holland Christian Home in North Haledon in 1988. A Carpenters Business Agent for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters of America Local #490 for 25 years before his retirement in 1967. Former president of the Passaic Building and Construction Trades Council, Executive Board Member of the N.J. State Building and Construction Trades Council, and the N.J. State Council of Carpenters. Former member of Fire Co. #1 of Garfield, and a member of the Garfield Exempt Firemans Association. A former member and deacon of the Bethel Reformed Church of Passaic, a former member of the board of directors of the Holland Christian Home and chairman of the Building Committee, and a member of the United Reformed Church of Clifton. Surviving are his wife Florence (nee Kalis), two daughters Wilma Sikkema and Muriel Amels both of Wyckoff, a sister Gertrude Gerritsen of Summerland Key, FL, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by a daughter Florence (Bobbie) Bonnema in 1956, and a sister Louise Hamersma in 1982. Interment Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
