Clarence "Art" Elam, 90, of rural Lincoln, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Boone Hospital, Columbia. He was born on April 18, 1921, at Neodesha, KS, a son of Daniel Simpson and Della Marie (Bullins) Elam.

On March 24, 1942, in the Republic of Mexico, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Hews, who survives of the home.

In 1961, he moved from Chapel Hill, Mo., to Sedalia, and then in 1986 to his home at Herb's Beach. Art was a member of the Masonic Lodge Granite #272 of Sedalia. He was an iron worker, working for Iron Workers Local #10. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hunting mushrooms, traveling west, going to rodeos, and farming.

He is survived by two daughters, Cathy S. Lemler and her husband Chriss of Harrisonville, and Linda "Cricket" Sanders and her husband Keith of Cole Camp; four sons, Clarence A. Elam, Jr. and his wife Karen of Oak Grove, Ron L. Elam and his wife Syliva of Lincoln, Bill L. Elam and his wife Angie of Harrisonville, and David B. Elam and his wife Peggy Sue of Gladstone; one sister, Patricia Rockhold; 15 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Della Elam, three sisters, and nine brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 28 at the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp, with Rev. Jason Veale officiating. Burial will be in Brushy Cemetery, rural Lincoln, with military rites being conducted by the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Shriner's in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Elam, Keith Sanders, Chriss Lemler, Ron Elam, Bill Elam and David Elam.
