He was born in 1897 as Harm Pieter Dijk in the country village Thesinge, municipality Ten Boer, in the northern central part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, son ot the 41 years aged farmer Jan Dijk and farmer Fijlina van Dijken.

On 21 March 1904 Harm Pieter (6) arrived with his parents, farmer Jan Dijk (48), Fijlina (47) and his six brothers, Pieter Dijk (22, farmer), Jan (17, farmer), Arend (14, farmer), Willem (12), Lambertus (9) and Hendrik (7) on the SS Potsdam at Ellis Island, New York. Their last residence place in the Netherlands was Thesinge and their destination is his mother Fijlina's brother P. van Dijken in Gallatin Valley, in the southwestern part of Montana. In March 1909 his mother died there at Manhattan.

In 1910 Peter Dyk (29 y) lived with his father, four brothers, Anna (24 y) and Grace V D Woude (15 y) at Heeb School District in Gallatin County, Montana.

Harm Peter Dyk married on 22 May 1918 in Manhattan, Gallatin County, Montana at the age of 20 years to the two years younger Jennie Oldenburger.

In 1920 Harm P. Dyk (22 y) lived with his wife Jennie (20 y) and their daughter Rena (11 months, born in Montana) in Gallatin County, Montana.

In 1930 Harm Dyk (32), his wife Jennie (30), their children Rena (11), Lena (9), Harrietta (7), Harriet (6), John (4), Helen (2) and Peter (0), all born in Montana, resided in the Dutch settlement Holland, later on called Amsterdam-Churhill, Gallatin County, Montana.

In May 1940 Hiram Dyk (42 y, farmer), his wife Jennie (40 y) and their ten children, Lena (19), Henrietta (17), Harriet (16), John (14) Helen (13), Peter (11), Andrew (10), William Dyk (7), Hermina Jean (5) and Stanley Kenneth (3 y, born in Washington, all other children were born in Montana) lived at an own farm, worth $4000, at Market Road in southern Kittitas, Kittitas County, in the center of the utter northwestern state Washington. In 1935 they lived on a farm at a rural place in Gallatin County, Montana.

Hiram Dyk died in 1974 in Ellensburg, the seat of Kittitas County, Washington at the age of 77 years. His widow Jennie died in 1980 in Ellensburg too at the age of 80 years.
