Death: Feb. 1, 1936

Henry Awe was born in the state of New York on Jan. 5, 1864, the son of John and Sophie Awe. When he was two years old he came with his parents to live in New Holstein, Wis. Here he was confirmed and received as a member of the Lutheran Church. In the year 1885 he came to Clark County. On Aug. 29, 1886 he was married to Friederika Loos. The ceremony was performed in New Holstein, Wis. To this union were born six children. In November 1886 the young couple came to Clark County and settled on a farm in the town of Green Grove, which Mr. Awe had purchased the previous year. This has always served as their home. His wife preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 1929.

On Jan. 1, 1898 Mr. Awe became a member of the Immanuel Reformed Church. In Jan. 1926 he was elected to the office of Elder and has since held that office. He also was a director of the Farmers Merchants Bank. He enjoyed a large circle of friends and acquaintances.

Though Mr. Awe was ailing for some time, his death came suddenly on Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 1936. He had reached the age of 72 years and 26 days. On Jan. 5th of this year he celebrated his birthday with his children at the home of his son Wilhelm.

Those who remain to mourn his death are two sons, Wilhelm and Arthur, of the Town of Green Grove, four daughters, Emma, Mrs. Henry Burmeister, Owen, Wis., Lydia, Town of Green Grove Martha, Mrs. Theodore Kippenhan, Greenwood, Wis. and Elizabeth, Mrs. Henry Voigtlander, Curtiss, Wis. Besides these he leaves to mourn one sister, Mrs. Sophie Calbaum of Nevada and thirteen grandchildren.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Immanuel Reformed Church, Rev. P. H. Franzmeier officiating, and the body was laid to rest in the West Side Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Wilhelm and Arthur Awe, Theodore Kippenhan, Henry Voigtlander, Alvin Kippenhan and George Burmeister.
