Mr. Richard N. "Richie" Behlog, 74, formerly of New Hartford and currently of Braselton, GA, entered into eternal life at his home on Thursday, November 19, 2009, with his loving wife and sons at his bedside. He was born in Brooklyn, the son of the late Anthony and Mary Nassutti Behlog, and was educated in Utica schools. He moved to Utica as a young boy from Brooklyn and resided here until 1988 when he retired to Boca Raton, FL. In 1999, Richie and his family moved to Braselton, GA, where he has since resided. On May 5, 1985, Richie married Terre Winchester in St. Agnes Church in Utica, a blessed union of 24 years. Richie was involved in many different businesses during his lifetime but most notably he was President and owner of Behlog Produce, Inc., of Utica, until his retirement in 1988. Skeet shooting, woodworking and playing golf were Richies enjoyments in life in addition to his love for traveling, which he did extensively from Europe to Africa and South America to most recently Bangkok, Thailand. There were many special people in Richies life, especially Monsignor Francis Willenburg, former Pastor of St. Agnes Church in Utica, and Robert Tedesco and his family of Las Vegas, NV. Richie is survived by his beloved wife, Terre; his sons, Richard Nicholas Behlog, Jr., and Anthony Michael Behlog, all of Braselton, GA; his daughter, Liza Giorgina Behlog, of New Hartford; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Rene Behlog, Binghamton, William and Linda Martin, Savannah, GA, and Richard and Melanie Mayer, West Palm Beach, FL; his mother-in-law, Ruth Wills, of West Palm Beach, FL; Terres grandmother, Louise Renz; aunts and uncles, Paul and Judith Fournier, and Michael and Nancy Renz, all of West Palm Beach, FL; and nieces and nephews, Peter, Diana, Samantha and Jade Behlog, of Binghamton, Brian and Angela Ward, Anthony Richard and Mary DiBenedetto, Tiffany DiBenedetto, Madison DiBenedetto and Christopher DiBenedetto, all of Virginia, and Brittnee and Brianna Mayer, of West Palm Beach, FL. He was predeceased by his brother, Samuel Behlog. Richies funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at 9:15 AM from the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd., Utica/New Hartford, and at 10:00 AM from St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends are on Monday, November 23, 2009, from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Richies family is very grateful to the Hospice organization, Compassionate of North Georgia, located in Gainesville, GA.
