Guilford Center was born May 2, 1820 in Allen County, Kentucky to Willis Stephen and Rebecca Spahn Center.
He passed from this life on March 18, 1895 in Winslow, Arkansas.
He married Sarah K. Hatler September 25, 1839 in Scottsville, Allen, Kentucky.
To this union was born William Riley, Francis Evaline, Amus Nickerson, Ceila Elmira, Marcus Lindsey, Emily Jane and Sarah Elizabeth.
He and his family left Kentucky and traveled to Missouri, where in 1851 at Jefferson City, Missouri, his wife, Sarah became ill with Malaria and died.
He and his children then moved on to Northwest Arkansas in 1856 and homesteaded on Lees Creek near Winslow where he met Laverna Templeton Pittman. They had one son, John Henry Center.
Guilford enlisted in the Civil War and served in the Union Army Co. D 1st Arkansas Calvary. After one year he was discharged as diabled due to extreme dysentery.
Guilford then married Sarah Elizabeth Hawkins Taylor.
Their union produced the following children, Samuel Cooper, Hanna, Mary Melvina, Martha Ellen and Charity Myree.
Sarah passed away in 1892 at Winslow, Arkansas and was buried at Collier Cemetery in Winslow.
After Sarah's death in 1892 he married Laverna and lived in Winslow until his death in 1895.
