Memorial services are pending for Alma W. Cunningham, a former home and garden page editor at The Dallas Morning News and former columnist for the Dallas Journal.
Mrs. Cunningham died Oct. 10 in Dallas. She was 76.
Cremation was Monday at Restland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cunningham, a native of Bell County, grew up in the Pleasant Grove area. After graduating from Forest High School, she continued her education at North Texas State University, from which she received a degree in 1933.
She joined The News in 1935 and left in 1943. A year later, Mrs. Cunningham joined the Office of Price Administration. She was promoted to regional information officer in 1945.
Mrs. Cunningham became manager of the Dallas Fashion Center in 1947. She also wrote a shopper's column for the Dallas Journal.
She continued her career in the fashion industry by working at Johnston Inc., Titche-Goettinger Co. and Neiman Marcus.
Mrs. Cunningham is survived by a son, Bruce H. Cunningham of Tokyo, Japan; her mother, Julia Whitley of Dallas; a granddaughter; and two great grandchildren. The Texas flag in front of The Dallas Morning News will fly at half-staff today in honor of Alma Cunningham.
