The funeral for Victor Vernon Deegan, 61, 228 S. Phillips, Salina, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec., 22 at the Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis, the Rev. Raymond Pachta officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, KS.
Mr. Deegan died Saturday at St. John's Hospital after suffering a severe heart attack at home. He was born Nov. 15, 1920, at Mahaska. He lived in the Delphos and Salina areas most of his life. He was a career truck driver however, he worked as a janitor for the General Battery Corporation for the last four years. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Lela Lucille (Garst) of the home; three sons, V. Alan Deegan, 571 S. Delaware, and Staff Sergeants Dennis G. and Gary L. Deegan, both of Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Okla; two daughters, Mrs. A. Nadine (Deegan) Martindale, Wichita, and Mrs. Rhonda F. (Deegan) Drouillard, Augusta; a brother, Edward Elwin, Dubuque, Iowa and three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Alma (Deegan) Dunbar, San Diego, Ca., Mrs. Hazel Lucille (Deegan) Cruz, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Dorothy Lorraine (Deegan) Cruz, San Diego, Calif., and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by both parents and a brother; Wilbur Earl, Trenton, MO.
The family suggests memorials to the Saline County Emergency Medical Service. Friends may call at the funeral home.
