Lawrence Ellison Hazard passed away at the peak of Mt. Lassen after a traditional family hike in expectation of a great ski down the mountain.

He was surrounded by three generations of family and in a place he held dear. Larry's family was everything to him. He is survived by his wife Joyce Hazard, brother James Hazard, sister-in-law Gigi Hazard, daughters Dana Green, Jill Montaquila and Wendy McClain, step-daughters Jill Edwards and Christy Mitchell, five sons-in law, nine grandchildren and a niece and nephew. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Snell and his parents Ellison and Helen Hazard.

Larry was born in Berkeley, California, was a graduate of Darien High School, Dartmouth College and Northwestern Business School. He was a commercial and industrial real estate broker and Past President of the Benicia Industrial Park Association, Benicia Rotary Club and the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. In his spare time, Larry created Hazard Hill Vineyards where each September family and friends gathered to help with the harvest and celebrate.

He was an active golf member of Roundhill Country Club and Assistant Patrol Director of the Squaw Valley Ski Patrol. This year was his 32nd year as a volunteer for the National Ski Patrol. Larry was also passionate about fly fishing, travel, history, sports and the Mt. Lassen area.

Larry's legacy will be missed and remembered. Services in celebration of Larry's life will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 2 p.m. at St. Anselms Episcopal Church in Lafayette.
