Willie Mae Terry is the daughter of William Dennis TERRY and Emma PILCHER TERRY who married on 20 Jan 1884 in Schley Co., GA. She is the oldest of six known children including: Samuel Lee, Thomas B, Alma M, John William and George Marion Terry.

Willie married George Robert HOBBS on 6 Apr 1902 in Schley Co., GA. Page 10, Schley Marriage Book G. The marriage license was issued on 22 Feb 1902 with the marriage taking place on 6 Apr 1902. The marriage ended in divorce.

In the 1910 Fort Valley Township, Houston Co., GA census, Willie is living with the Cooper family. She is listed as being married once with two live births of children. The children are not with her in the household. Mrs. Cooper turns out to be Willie's sister Alma who married H Carl COOPER.

One child, Obie, is my grandmother. I am named after her. She is found living with John and Dora BOOTH in the 1910 Montezuma, Macon Co., GA census. Where is her dad? Were her parents separated or divorced? Where is the other child? Is it a boy or girl child? Is the child alive but living with another family? or the child already died?

George, who went by Robert, married Hattie Lee PILAND about 1925. They have one child together, a daughter Susie Mae HOBBS born in 1927.

Curious that Susie's middle name is 'Mae' since Willie, Robert's first wife, had the same middle name. Maybe he loved Willie and it was not he who left her, but she left him and the children. Dora BOOTH above from the 1910 census would be Medora Ann HOBBS who married John BOOTH. They are Robert's aunt and uncle. Meaning the one daughter, Obie, by Robert's first marriage are living with his family and not her family.

Willie married Ebbie Willis GODARD in late 1920 or sometime in 1921. Ebbie was in the Swanee Co., FL jail in the 1920 census. He must have been released, headed back to Georgia when he and Willie met. A death certificate was found for a still born boy baby dated July 21, 1922 in Macon, Bibb Co., GA. This document clearly lists Ebbie Godard and Willie Terry as the parents of the GODARD baby boy.

Willie and Ebbie had two more children, Hansel Terry GODARD, born 1923, and Laura Louise GODARD, born 1929.

The 1930 census for Atlanta Burough, Fuller Co., GA lists Ebbie, 35, and Willie, 40, with daughter Laura Louise, age 1. They are among a number of families listed as 'roomers' at a single address. Their son Hansel is not listed.

The 1940 census for Americus, Sumter Co., GA lists Ebbie, Willie and Laura. Hansel is found living with Ebbie's mother Belle Godard in Lamar Co., GA.

Ebbie and Willie apparently returned to Lamar Co., GA to live out their lives as they are both listed as having died in Lamar Co. and are buried in the same cemetery.
