4. The Last Days of Mr. Fischer
Mr. Fischer had moved from one place to another and was last staying with a Mr. Lavellee, in a small room hardly more than 8'x10', and very inadequately furnished - the beds and mattresses, etc., were borrowed through Mr. Paul Young.

The Japanese who were in control of the coal sales were rationed coal, and Mr. Lavelle was not able to buy any. Therefore, the house was extremely cold. The deceased was brave and made it a point to take waling exercises in the afternoon. He had been seen on many occasions to rest by the roadside, and heart attacks were frequent, but the deceased carried a bottle of nitro glycerin pills for relief. on Several occasions, Mr. Paul Young and several other friends found the deceased leaning up against the wall on the street, suffering from an attack, and took him home. The writers often advised him to to overdo it.

Mr. Lavellee and his daughter were with Mr. Fischer during the early hours of 21 February 1945, and the report that the end was peaceful and came in his sleep. They believe that the end came around 7.15a.m. The body was cremated and interred at the American Legion Cemetery, according to his request, and a table set up to his memory. . . .
