CARL FOKETT, LAST BUT ONE OF WAR VETS, DIES AT REEDSVILLE
Well Known Pioneer of County Who Was One of Two Surviving Veterans of War in Reedsville, Passes Away
Carl Fokett, pioneer resident of Manitowoc county and the last but one of the civil war veterans of Reedsville, died at his home in that village last night at the age of 70 years. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
Mr. Fokett was one of the best known residents of his home village and widely known throughout the county and had a large circle of friends in this city. He had been in failing health for some time and during the past few weeks it had become apparent that there was little hope for his recovery. Coming to Manitowoc in his early days, Mr. Fokett, a native of Germany, settled on a farm.
When war was declared in the 60's Mr. Fokett enlisted with the Eighteenth Wisconsin and served with distinction. He was a prominent G.A.R. man.
Mr. Fokett is survived by a widow and five sons and five daughters; Oscar, August, Louis, Charles, William, Mrs. Young, Menasha; Mrs. Haug. Curtiss; Mrs. Bresner, Milwaukee; Mrs. Meyer, Chicago and Miss Anna at Reedsville.

Chas. Fokette, Sr., one of the three survivors of the Eighteenth Wisconsin regiment, who fought under General Grant, will celebrate his 75th birthday anniversary Saturday, Dec. 4 at his home at Reedsville. Mr. Fokette, until a year ago, resided on a farm about two miles northeast of that village but decided to spend the remaining years of his life in Reedsville. His son,
Albert, took charge of the farm and Mr. Fokette and wife came to Reedsville where they purchased a home on Manitowoc street. The old gentleman is still hale and hearty and his friends who will gather at his home Saturday will find him the genial host of old.
