Deacon Alexander Nelson was born on June 13th, 1795 in Paris, Maine. He even taught in South Livemore, Maine at the age of 19. Shortly later after his teaching he bought some land off his cousin Seth, and built his home...out of granite! Sense he built it, it has been called the Stone House.

He was married three times, first Lydia Loring, which he had one child: Achsah. After Lydia died he married Hannah F., and then his most well known children were from his last marriage with Elizabeth Griffith. His children from Elizabeth were Samuel Nelson, Martha J, and Nathan A.

From his previous two wives, there was Alex(ander) O., Achsah, Jerusha, Ann V., and James N, who died in 1847 at age 24, shipwrecked at sea. His son Samuel, who later had his granddaughter, Florence Nelson, also became famous when she presented her hobby of nature studies. He died on July 9th, 1886 in Livermore, Maine.
