Joseph D. Adelsberger
Joseph Dwen Adelsberger, 59, died at his home on West Main street, Emmitsburg, Thursday at 1:45 a.m. He was in ill health for two and one-half years. He was a native of Frederick county and son of the late Francis and Jennie Baker Adelsberger.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, where he belonged to the Holy Name Society. He served in World War I with the U.S. Army, Company A, 29th Division, from July 25, 1917 to June 4, 1919, and attained the rank of corporal. War service was in the Argonne and in Alsace-Lorraine in France.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Adele Wood Adelsberger; nine children, James, Emmitsburg; Mrs. Roy Steel and Mrs. William Dunn both of Baltimore; Francis, Emmitsburg; Mrs. Eugene Engel, Baltimore; Martina Adelsberger, Emmitsburg; Eugene and John both of Emmitsburg; and Ann, of Baltimore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Friends will meet at the funeral home in Emmitsburg Saturday to go to the church at 10 a.m. Rev. Father John Sullivan will officiate.
Friends may call this evening after seven o'clock, when the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 at the funeral home. Funeral director is S.L. Allison, Emmitsburg.
