J.C. Dorrell, 85, passed away January 12, 2010 in Beaumont, Texas. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Mollie E. Dorrell; son, Jay Dorrell and his wife, Ginger; son, Larry Dorrell; daughter, Kathi Hill and her husband, Glen; and son, Randy Dorrell and his wife, Sharon. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Jennifer Dorrell, Staci Davis, Jessica Dorrell, Nicholas Dorrell, Kasi Sarver, J.C. Hill and Randy Dorrell, Jr., his five loving great-grandchildren with two more on the way, three brothers, Troy Dorrell, Earl Dorrell and Dwain Dorrell along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, family, friends and his loving pet, Katie. . He is preceded in death by twin brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Dorrell as well as his mother Era Day Dorrell and father, John C. Dorrell, Sr. He valiantly served in WWII in the Army Air Corps as a Reconnaissance Officer and was shot down over Germany. J.C. went to his maker still possessing his trade mark positive attitude. His standard response anytime asked how he was doing was always, I'm doing great for a crippled, blind, deaf, old man! Some of his favorite phrases included, I thought you quit me, I'm still kickin'! and If I tell you a rooster can pull a freight train, then you hook him up. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Claybar Kelley Watkins Chapel. A private family committal service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the funeral home.
